While studying at the Academy of Art, I discovered that drawing an object actually meant meeting it,  irrespective of whether the object was a building, a landscape or an interior. For the past twenty years, I have produced at least one drawing a day: early in the morning at home, while commuting, during walks or when travelling. For example, the poses of fellow passengers sitting or standing in a train were very useful for honing my “figure drawing” skills.

Over time, sketchbooks filled themselves with drawings, and each year I would select a few of these to elaborate on at the drawing board. The various patterns of lines and shapes were combined with colour, paper tones, grey tones and/or black tones. During this process, memories and drawings literally met each other - and titles for my works naturally presented themselves.

My work is made on paper with block print, pastels, drawing pencils and watercolours. I have also produced work on my iPad.
